Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 4 whole green onions sliced
  • 2 whole garlic clove minced
  • ½ cup green pepper diced
  • ½ cup red pepper diced
  • 2 whole green chilies seeded and sliced
  • 4 oz water chestnuts diced
  • 6 oz five-spice tofu
  • 6 whole chinese black mushroom rehydrated
  • 1 cup diced cucumber
  • 2 tbsp black bean paste
  • 1 tsp rice wine or dry sherry
  • 1 teaspoon red-bean paste
  • 1 tsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp ground white pepper
  • 4 oz deep-fried gluten balls if desired
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp sesame oil to serve

Instructions 

  • In a wok, heat vegetable oil, add green onions and garlic, and stir fry 3 or 4 minutes until just beginning to color. Add bell pepper, chiles and water chestnuts; stir-fry 1 minute. Stir in remaining ingredients except sesame oil and cook 3 minutes.
  • Serve sprinkled with sesame oil.
