Criss-Cross Peanut Butter Cookies

Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1-1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup butter or shortening
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar firmly packed
- 2 whole egg well beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 1 whole egg white lightly beaten
- 1 cup chopped chopped nut
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Sift together the flour, salt, and baking powder and set aside. Cream butter or shortening and sugars, add the eggs and vanilla. Add the dry ingredients and the peanut butter. Mix well and knead.
- Roll into 3/4-inch balls and place on greased cookie sheets, 1 inch apart. Flatten criss-cross style with a fork dipped in flour. Brush with egg white and sprinkle with chopped nuts if desired. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
