Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup fresh bread crumbs
  • 1/8 tsp thyme or basil
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice or 1/2 cup shredded Cheddar or grated Parmesan cheese optional

Instructions 

  • In 1-quart saucepan over medium heat, melt butter or margarine.
  • Add fresh bread crumbs; cook, tossing lightly, until crumbs are golden. Stir in thyme or basil until well mixed.
  • If you like, add lemon juice or Cheddar cheese.
  • Sprinkle Buttered Crumbs over drained, hot cooked vegetables.
  • POLONAISE SAUCE: Prepare Buttered Crumbs with lemon juice as above. Stir in 1 hard-cooked egg, chopped, 1 tbsp chopped parsley and 1/4 teaspoon salt until thoroughly mixed together.
